On hearing some players had trouble with bosses in Neverwinter last night. I got to thinking about old bosses I had fought and lost too. From the nemesis in res evil to cthun in warcraft. I decided that Arthas was probably my favourite take down due to the shear fact of the time it took and the numpties I dragged through that instance. So what's yours and why?
Mine is quite recent. Lei Shen from Throne of Thunder in WoW:MoP Really enjoyable fight, think it will be even more amazing on heroic once I get there ^^
Age of Conan's Thoth Amon due to his freshening complexity when I finally got there. Unfortunately I dropped the game a few weeks after that. :-(
Berderk Faello in Cabal Online when it was a decent game. Why? Everyone was hunting for him. It was like running through whole map -> checking spawn location -> reloging if he wasnt there and then repeating this for hours and hours. If you found one, you had to be quick because anyone could show up in anytime and try to killsteal. Fighting with other groups just to see Berderk dropping only 'upgrade core high'... yeah, that brings back some memories
I gotta say Illidan not the hardness factor but the fact that you were among the 5% that ever got to do him in wow makes it special
Thaurlach the Balrog in The Rift of Nûrz Ghâshu instance in Lord of the Rings Online (pre-nerf and pre-f2p changeover). A fantastic piece of PvE, it had multiple stages to the fight, some were surviving waves of mobs increasing in number and difficulty, there were puzzles that had to be solved mid combat with the boss, there was a miniboss that needed to be fought and then the fight with the balrog itself had so many mechanics involved that it took a good few attempts and good discipline to master. Fantastic instance in general, extremely unforgiving on casuals/pickups, needed high coordination and skill. I rarely give PvE credit to MMO's other than WoW because WoW did PvE so well and consistently has done it well for so long, but The Rift of Nûrz Ghâshu is probably the best instance I have played through in an MMO (shame the rest of LotRO's instances were either very buggy or very grindy/boring).
Loved the "mechanics" to defeating him. That whole game was actually phenomenal. I replayed it only a month ago on my original Playstation, its still great and still a challenge all these years later.
I don't have that many Wow Bosses too chose from really. But based on my own impression yes he's the most exciting. Dragon soul was just bad. Mogushan Vaults, Heart of Fear and Terrace of Endless Springs is pretty much the only current content I've cleared so far besides Throne of Thunder.
That was the funniest back in the day trying to get 40 ppl to dance,, so much trolling mid boss. Mine was Illedan too, 270 raids and 12 months to finally do it! But I also loved kelas and this BOON movie we made of it, Trixeh aka Asurayn ftw.
