Modding and custom content is on the decline for most games but there are some companies see the value in modding and what it brings to the community. Bethesda, Valve and Blizzard (with SC2 and WoW) allow custom content like mods and maps to be made because it helps the community grow. Banning mods, custom maps and any other form of player made content is only done so that the game developers can squeeze more money from DLC these days.

You can clearly see better animations, but it sometimes still looks a bit awkward. Also Ragdoll physics are still just as ridiculous, bring back proper death animations. Modding will happen.
