It may not be your favourite game ever brought, but it was that game you brought for no reason other than it was cheap. It then shocked the hell out of you by actually being a bloody good game. Mine was Half Life!!! I only brought my 550mhz 64 meg machine to play championship manager but on the same day I brought it. I also brought a big (those days the packaging was huge) shiny black/orange box containing Half Life with the sumly price off £9.99. I played it more than champ man and along with the early counterstrike betas I was hooked. I even brought Blue Shift, Opposing Force and Gunman Chron to complete the set. So what was your bargain?
Well there are nowhere near my fave games of all time, but definitely the ones that surprised me the most based on how much they cost..... Stronghold (original game, not Stronghold 2). Bought it for like £4.99 in the bargain bin a few years ago because I was like, oooo castles..... seriously was a good little game. More recently, I would have to say I honestly bough Magicka without watching any youtube videos about it. I bought it purely because it was cheap and I was bored and I have to say, it is a bloody good game for what it is.
The Orange Box Still amazes me how good a deal it was, Portal, HL2 and hundreds of hours sunk into TF2 for a negligible sum
Hands down it has to be Magika for me, even with all it's initial bugs and the daily patching, me and Ariella were in complete hysterics every single time we played - still are now, apparently I have bad aim Sent using my Fruit!
I have to concur that orange box is probably the best bargin I've bought, though years ago I bought a starwars pack which had Dark forces, xwing alliance and rebel alliance! Was probably 1999-2001 and I played those games for years!
Sucks, I already owned all the pre-steam orange box contents and the majority of the steam games contents so I never had the joys of the orange box..... /cry
Dr dragos madcap chase. Seriously, has to be almost 20 years ago i played this game i bought it for like 5 euro and i dont think there is any other game i have enjoyed this much tbh. i was young, you could play it with your friends via "hot seat" and it was just awesome! I still get nostalgic when i think of it. here is a little video
Gotta be able to take a shot to the eye every once and a while, in this kind of business. Delicate flowers can gtfo.
Diablo 2 + Diablo 2 LoD. or maybe Starcraft, since brood war could be "pirated" and work on bnet at the same time, as long as you had original starcraft
cracked starcraft 1 + broodwar ... amazing ! diablo 1 was good too magicka would be cool too but no one was playing it a week or two after it came out PS: @Katiechops , u dirty old scotbag
Think I miss out on most steam bargains because I usually have half or more of their games already when it's about packs, buying the ones I don't have yet individually afterwards is usually cheaper. Sure games like Deathspank and Magicka were new and cheap games but I also didn't play them very long. Best value for money for me is I guess the older games I'm buying now that have become free or really cheap, but that can't really be considered bargain anymore right?
Archlord.... it was so nice ...really nice PVP....but that was in the old Codemaster times.... then everything turned into hacking, cheating etc. but before that it was such a good game...i enjoyed it really it was a lot of grinding...and i mean grinding^^ running hours in a circle with a train of mobs on your ass....and that for months...or years... in between you had really nice castle sieges...and ofc....a lot of pvp you could PK EVERYONE (above lvl 15, what was about 30 mins playing or maybe an hour) and EVERYWHERE (except towns)
