For those of us of a certain age this is massive news, freelancer was my first PC game.

If you are a space opera fan, or the thought of a potential real space MMO then look out for an announcement at GDC sometime today.

BTW the golden ticket ends with the announcement in just over 3 hours so if you are interested and want to have a great chance for beta access etc then would suggest signing up before 3 pm uk time.

No dont think so just wait for the annoucnement on gamepspot theres a live stream from GDC at 3, reading that site and forums is like a massive trip down memory lane.

Its been in development for a year so far, with approx another 2 years until launch, i just read that the tickets end today, i think all will be clearer soon, for me it will be good to get involved in a community of older gamers hoping to bring back a genre that is long dead, and even longer overdue something new.

From what i have read he wants to combine the elements of all 3 games (wing commander, freelancer and privateer2) and combine them into a persistent universe, so if that means space combat, and capital ships in an EVE style persistent universe then that has to be epic win any way you look at it.

He stopped making games as technology was holding him back, now he feels he can achieve his goal.

If he pulls this off then quite frankly given the arwork i have seen for carriers etc all others games for me can give up and go home.

Picture this:

Boon Control on one carrier (or an armada) launching waves of fighters to fuck people up....... i am getting quite moist over that thought and may have to dust off my saitek joystick to see if it still works.

I love space flight sims. My favourite 2 easily being X-wing alliance and Tachyon the Fringe. Never played freelancer, wing commander or privateer, but obviously I know them and am looking forward to seeing how this plays out.
