As Promised, here is how to get your UI from beta to launch.... After all, if you are anything like me you will have spent HOURS getting it looking right. Step 1: Log in to your beta character with the UI you wish to save Step 2: Type into chat /exportui <Filename> eg. /exportui Fizzeesui Step 3: Go to your rift install Directory. For me this was C:\Users\Ted\AppData\Local\RIFT Step 4: Locate the file you exported and save it some where safe. Step 5: Upon release copy the file to your new install directory. Step 6: Create your new character and type /importui <filename> Step 7: ???? Step 8: Profit This also works for copying UI from other shards.
Alternatively, copying your UI folder to your new instill directory should work Furthermore, I'm still poking around with the config file and experimenting with .ovr files in an aattmept to get a liitle more out of the client.
Hmm, if your planning on trying to push the possibilities on how much you can mod the UI using out of game editing, I wouldn't mind sitting in TS helping with this.
I'm trying to get the console up in game atm, none of the typical Gamebryo stuff seems to be working. I've dicked around extracting .pak files but a lot of it doesn't even make sense, even the wav files won't play properly. I'm too tired to concentrate atm I'll have a better look on Thursday.
So can conclude. To export your ui to be able to use it on another charachter do /exportui UIName To export your keybinds do /exportkeybindings KBName Then when you start your new char you copy these two files to your new rift folder and do /importui UIName /importkeybindings KBName make sure you don't use the same name for these two files and that you copy them from the beta folder to the retail copy folder.
ah is a shortcut in your rift folder to rift.cfg That's the file you want to copy if you want to keep your settings. Can either save the values in that file to a text document and if the layout is the same at release replace the new values in that file with the saved ones. Or if you want to copy the file. appdata/roaming/rift if you can't find your way there trough the shortcut write. %APPDATA% in the file explorer depending on version you will get placed in the appdata folder or the roaming folder head into the rift folder after that and there it should be.
