I found a pretty awesome guide on how to get a really good streaming setup for anyone wanting to live steam. The guide is on TeamLiquid and it is very well written and contains youtube video explanations. I know a few people here have started to stream a lot more, and with a few people on here having poor upload speeds, this guide should help you get the best quality you can. edit: New guide over on TeamLiquid
You guys should start to think about a monetisation strategy with your 3 viewers Where is Ricardo when you need him.
Well just an idea But couldn't Boon Members all watch a steam of theirs one night to boost them up the list and get them more random viewers?
currently getting raped in smite btw and none of us are streaming seriously.. yet will see how things evolve
Couple of help files on Twitch people who want to stream should read: Basic settings - this will help get your quality up: http://help.twitch.tv/customer/portal/articles/1253460 XSplit: http://help.twitch.tv/customer/portal/articles/733542-xsplit OBS: http://help.twitch.tv/customer/portal/articles/1262922-open-broadcaster-software FFSplit: http://help.twitch.tv/customer/portal/articles/1279750-ffsplit-broadcasting (don't think anyone here is using it) Remember to use your Dashboard (over sitting watching the full stream) as it is less intensive on your system: http://www.twitch.tv/broadcast/dashboards From here you can update the title on your stream (without refreshing the page), catagorise what game you are playing (this will allow you to get on the rank lists) and chat/moderate your channel with ease. A couple of good bots that will help you automate some things on your channel are: http://www.nightbot.tv/ http://twitch.moobot.tv/ Both are functionally similar, chat moderation (links, spam etc), music selection, giveaways etc etc.
Setting up VAC - this will allow you to use multiple audio sources and limit what is and isn't heard on your livestream: .bat file setup for VAC:
I won a life time xsplit membership or something like 4 years ago and never used it lol editPREMIUM LICENSEExpires on Apr 13, 2014 (Extend)
Should probably be noted that my OP in this thread is over 18months old and is probably waaay out of date. Sure the basics are all still relevant but would probably be best to look around for a more current guide as I don't even think Xsplit is the go to streaming tool these days anyway. Since moving to the countryside and dropping from 50Meg to 2Meg, streaming hasn't really been up there on my to do list, lol.
I have added a new link (to the OP) from TeamLiquid that explains how to stream with OBS, I still prefer XSplit (have a premium account) but neither requires DXtory anymore.
