Know a lot have iPhones on here... So just narrowly escaped wiping my phone completely, upgraded it to newest iOS on my home PC without realising that game data etc wouldn't be backed up (music, contacts, photos were fine due to that being my main PC) however I download most apps at work (when bored) and it seems the data (settings, saves etc) isn't synced back from the iPhone to your PC, only the PC you download the app on initially. I have now been able to restore from work PC all settings etc without loosing photos, contacts, music that are held on main PC (even though both PCs have the apps stored on them?) It seems sync in Apple terms is wipe everything on your iPhone and get the iTunes from that PC onto it, rather than actually sync'g multiple PCs (you can have 5 though?) or am i missing something, some setting? End result latest version with everything that I had before, but what a pain! p.s. anybody know how to unlock a LG 32LX2R without a remote? somebody at work broke it... (no not me)
Divinitas that is simply the way apple works with syncing... if you could "download" stuff from your iphone into a computer, you would effectively create a loophole that would allow you to share music with your friends bypassing DRM. Apple can't allow that, otherwise the music nazis wouldn't let them sell music downloadable on itunes store. The same process applies to everything else, not only music. ´There are, however, ways to download stuff from your iphone / ipod... it's just a matter of searching the web! ( i dont own an ipod or iphone, so i'm sorry i dont have anything for u )
Sorry wasn't clear, not interested in the actual music or videos etc, just the settings info, surely that's your own property and can be backed up wherever you want? for instance I lost all my wireless settings, email accounts, save games on angry birds! etc etc The actual applications, music, videos etc i can understand why they would limit you to whatever PC it was downloaded to. You can do a manual backup on each PC i think, but it just seems a stupid way to do it.
Basically you can have a syncing partnership with 1 PC. It sucks. Appdata isn't synced but I believe it is backed up when it does the backup before a sync. You can return to these settings via restoring your phone to a backup. You can have apps/music downloaded from iTunes on up to 5 devices I believe. You can just 'purchase' them again via the app store/iTunes and it will say you've already bought it and can download for free.
Well that's stupid, I knew about the backup thing but least I now know I wasn't missing something with the appdata sync, thanks Tal
