I worked few time ago in MSI\Asus\Dell\Lenovo[IBM]\Samsung service center. Lead engineer. Worst ever laptops (from ) in my personal rating: 1. MSI (shitty plastics, bad LCD panels, bad cooling system design, shitty keyboards) 2. Asus (shitty plastic, bad assembly quality, cooling system totally sucks(too hot and suck dust), often thingy, that in new laptops (fabric sealed) we found some refubrished motherboards)) 3. Dell ( bad design of cooling system (really bad. some laptops have funny thing, that GPU was overheated and just burn plastic case around it[nVIDIA GT6xx series]) 4. Samsung (Shitty plastics, shitty LCD panels, many of broken HDDs\RAM modules) 5. Lenovo (Strange design, shitty plastics) Choose, what you want =) I own Dell Alienware m18x and it's good enough. For my friends i recommend MacBook Pro 15( no. i'm not apple fan), only just because they have rly nice assembly quality and good tested and balanced hardware components. And with windows they work pretty nice. Oh.... totally forgot. Try find something with ATI graphics, because nVIDIA optimus technology not sucks. it's blow. And for gaming try find non-glare LCD panel(matted). If you play games more, than 4+hrs with glare LCD panel ur broke ur eyes. for my friend we bough http://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-Aspire...&ie=UTF8&qid=1362642849&sr=1-4#productDetails Not so bad laptop with really nice performance. I dunno why it costs so much on amazon. we bough it for 790€ here (in russia)
No, the pc was awesome fucking miles better than mine >< however it just kept tripping and they couldn't find the fault I likely could have asked for a machine swap as I am sure i just got really unlucky but went for refund just to get him a laptop that can play games as he has always had a laptop so decided may as well get both in one as it will get binned in 3 years when he goes off to Uni.
Hmm this looks good http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00AYC7MC8/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&psc=1&s=computers#productDetails newer cpu and gfx, but no ssd drive and 8gig not 16gig. 2+ 2- but 300 quid cheaper he is on a £900 limit!
Seriously? They still didn't fix the problem?! Imma kick some repairs teams ass tomorrow. How fucking hard is it to work out, if you can't replicate the problem, machine swap to rule out incompetence! to drag this out til March is a joke... Sorry dude.
KC, this laptop line have 2 HDD bay's. Soo you can easy install SSD and don't remove HDD. Some laptops of this line have 4 RAM slots. In that one i linked - we installed 4x8Gb RAM + SSD 512Gb without any problems.
Check out https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/laptop-computers/ i've been looking around for one too and they seem to have nice ones, they use Clevos for their laptops. Also check http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark-List.844.0.html to look at graphics card benchmarks.
