Mate wants to play gw2 but he has an old comp and says its running it like shit atm. What does he need to upgrade to get it working gw2 properly? I also heard gw2 is very processor heavy. Posting his spec below, everyone here knows I'm a computer nub so any help would be grateful. If he needs a brand new comp (which he may well do) then just say, but he wants to run it on minimum with very little (cheap) upgrades. 3Gb of RAM is pretty low, especially since he has Vista which uses a lot just to run Windows itself. Also, the Q6600 are getting old, i5 2500k is what I would say is the minimum for running games. It's an epic processor for the price. Sent from my HTC Desire using Forum Runner
what that pc is OP in front of mine but i still can play with normal options at 20FPS and ~8 FPS everything on low at BG, but still playable
He NEEDS to change from Vista to W7. He needs to upgrade to a decent quad core CPU. Like Aspira recommended, the i5 2.5k is an epic CPU at a very affordable price. If he upgrades the CPU and the OS, he should then make sure he runs his new OS at 64bit instead of 32bit and get 8gb of ram. Last but not least, that graphics card really needs an upgrade too. One of the ATI models from the 6800 series should do him well. Bear in mind, he HAS to change the cpu, and if you change the CPU you gotta change mobo and most likely ram as well. There's no way he can just upgrade one component.
The q6600 is easily overclocked to 3ghz RAM is cheap so get 8GB and a 64bit Win 7 that GFX card is shocking... Upgrade it asap. Really it needs a complete overhaul, but you could get by with a new gfx card and more ram (plus 64bit OS)if you just need playable FPS on any graphical settings.
