teaser site now has a countdown : http://www.dust514.com/ http://www.vg247.com/2009/08/18/ccp-announce-dust-514-for-consoles/
Corps can hire mercenaries and supply them to carry out missions is about as much as I've heard. I really hope this gets a PC release
This should be a PS3 exclusivity. Basically Eve players will recruit Dust514 players to do planet invasion etc. I'm looking forward it, interracting with PC players should be very interresting.
Wish they would introduce something like this as a full game I.e in space or ships or whatever and then you can go on to your char on land/planets and fight battles in fps/3rd person
Wonder how this'll work, altho I may never play it. I seem to be unable to get away from my PC and go downstairs to play behind a PS3 with a gamepad...
so an online PC game has an expansion incorparated in it that PC users can't play? .... /lawl Even more lawl is what are the EvE corps gonna do everything the PS network gets taken down? pause game and wait? canI /lawl again? ok /lawl
oh and btw I has alway dreamed of the day they would bring out a space mmo where you could invade and contol planets fps, flight sim style,,, hoepfully someone will rip this all off and make a whole package one. SOON!
Like you said in the post after this KC, This is an experiment for CCP on 2 levels, it's not a serious expansion for EvE. Dust 514 is CCP's first attempt at an FPS and it's first voyage into the Console market. CCP decided that whilst they were in a "Lets test the waters" type mood, they would also add a patch to EvE called Incarna. This patch lets players in EvE have full body Avatars and actually roam around Space stations in EvE. these space stations then act as a kind of Lobby system, where they can pick up player requests from Dust 514 players to Bomb certain Planets, Space stations in EvE, that then relate to artillery support for players in Dust 514. I believe just like us CCP are looking at this as an experiment into new grounds and console/PC link up on the internets. Brave move tbh, but lots of ?? of how well they do an FPS, how the Console market take to it, how EvE Corp's will take to it, etc.
The whole players in one game asking from help from another has already been tried. Ubisoft tried it so that players in Ghost Recon could call in air support from players in Hawx to remove entrenched positions, and players in Hawx could call for ground support from Ghost Recon players to remove anti-air defenses. Whole thing failed miserably and I don't think it even made it out of testing. Good idea on paper though and I CCP all the best with this, but I don't think any EvE player will give a shit about any of Dust 514. The Incarna expansion has been in development for aaaaages so I don't see it having any link to Dust 514. Incarna is an amazing addition to EvE and I think it will bring a load of new players to the game. Thinking people like Pete who like to play with sliders on the character creation page.
Incarna Linked to Dust 514 from CCP Fanfest It's a teaser with no real details, but the first bit is all Incarna footage, and the second bit is Dust 514.
The game looks pretty much like a darker version of planetside, hopefully it won't be too instancied. Guess we'll see tomorrow
You obviously didn't read my post and just thought you would be a smart arse for the sake of it, because eve doesn't have anything like this built into it, hence they are releasing it on PS, on a separate platform and not actually part of EvE. I don't know if it's released yet but there was some upcoming stuff about having an avatar walking on stations etc but it certainly wasn't a full game where you could run about shooting like in Dust, needing outcomes of planets or boarding enemy ships etc the kind of stuff a full game with this integrated into it would do??
this looks pretty good, however we don't see many players on screens so i guess this will be heavily instancied.
How many people we talking about per instance you think ? (I haven't seen the pics you are talking about when you say its only a @few@ people on the screens) I ask because instancing.....
