Blizzard Entertainment CEO, Michael Morhaime reveals certain details about the unannounced MMO “Titan”. Furthermore, a few months ago “Titan” was under speculation to whether it could be a codename for a Diablo or Starcraft MMORPG. While Mr. Morhaime does not deny those rumors neither does he speak about them. In addition to the interviews made, Mr. Morhaime states that “Titan will be two MMORPGs that will co-exist.” More specifically MMORPG.com states, “Titan will be roughly divided in two: An area for battle and questing with a second are for more social events”Source: gamesindustry.biz
What ever happened to the Stargate MMO that was in development ? That city landscape in the Titan Image does look ridiculously similar to the Stargate one.
I'm pretty sure it got cancelled. They ran out of money so made a quick FPS game under the same engine called 'Stargate: Resistance' which got pretty poor ratings. It didn't really make any money so last month (I think) they announced they were shutting the servers for that down and I guess the parent company has collapsed.
Thats the leaked product release sheet that sparked the rumor and got them to admit they are making it.Whats important to note is...Starcraft 2 expansion slotted for this year,Diablo 3 slotted for this year,WoW Movie slotted for release in 2012 as well as another WoW expansion,AND a WoW expansion in the same year as Titan will be released.Notice that Cataclysm is simply labeled as "X3", so are we to assume Blizzard will be doing two more expansion of the same size as Cataclysm between now and the end of 2013 ?Either way, the Starcraft 2 stuff got me excited.
I bet they are doing it to compete with the warhammer 40k mmo dark millennium. That world has some HARDCORE fans. I personally would love to see a starcraft mmo but i think they said at some point that the IP in titan is something completely new? As in it cant be halo, starcraft or anything thats out allready
Warhammer 40k, dark millenium online has the best IP ever, Titan got shit on that. just hoping Vigil won't screw it up.
The problem with having a big IP attacthed to an MMO is that it becomes constrictive. Mythic had a LOT of problems with WAR development due to Games Workshop vetoing a lot of their ideas to stay faithful to the IP. I hope Dark Millenium works, and Vigil have the benefit of being published by THQ who've done well with DoW as opposed to Mythinc being hamstrung and sold short by EA.
yeah if blizzard the creator of warcraft changes something... well whats the big deal, same with eq1 and eq2 - the idea of SOE, if they change something, they do it because they are allowed to do anything with their idea. but i dont like these warhammer or conan or what ever story copied ideas. they have to follow a group of people who make the ideas for them. they are not independant
Massive legal case to do with moneys etc, company that owned the rights and had licensed them out for the MMO went bust, all projects went into liquidation. MMO cancelled and will never see the light of day (shame)!
Its been confirmed that Diablo 3 will not be released this year and will actually be close (if not a) 2013 release. Yes a Blizz exec did mention that WoW expansions will come quicker from Cata on, they had roughly a 15/17 month release window with TBC and WotLK, which in most peoples eyes was too long, they look to be shrinking it back to a once a year expansion, similar to other MMO's on the market. I'd expect a lot of information to flow about Titan at this years Blizzcon - generally western developers ramp up PR and hype about a new MMO roughly 18 months before release (not always but close enough), whereas eastern developers it can be anything upto 3 years (remember that it takes on average 10 months to fully translate a game from an Asian language into English).
while we are talking about blizzard did u know Starcraft Ghost was shut down cause of world of warcraft
