Blizzard getting desperate?

Blizz have re-done SoR and you can now invite people who havent played in a while, people coming back to the game will get:

A single character boosted all the way to level 80.

A free upgrade to Cataclysm, regardless of the expansions you already own.

An optional free character move/faction change.

7 free days of game time.

To get your free level 80 you must buy a month of gametime.

That's pretty funny.

They must be getting desperate if thats true.

Its going to be open to abuse though.

Looks like good business sense to me. How many gamers are sitting around waiting for a mmo to come out or not playing one? How many are tired of lvling and just want to play with they're mates.

Remember wow, whether you like it or not is still the pinnacle of mmos. It's also still the one I would recomend to any player/friend starting out in mmos. Simply because it gives you the most.

SoR has been missing for a long time, this is nothing but good business.

Me and Acina have more money than sense so brought the 12 months and get diablo 3. What they didn't tell us is we wouldn't get diablo 3 for 12 months.

All serious though, I'm very tempted for a month of play for a free level 80! (I hate levelling)
Could repeat every month for a year and have all my needs catered!

This is easily puggable with the LFRaid mechanism in the game.

Why? They are bleeding subs and this even has me tempted and I had vowed never to touch wow again...

Very wise move and will make them a lot of money on returned subs.

Doesn't blizzard do something like this two months after every single major mmo release? Its there way of getting those that left to come back. I dont think being in the 6mil+ subs bracket can make any company desperate. its just Catas finished as far as Blizzard are concerned, so give it away and get people playing again.

Is WoW down to 6+ mill, really? Down from 12+

They've never gone far enough to just give you a level 80 and the expac, last time was just a donate levels thing to speed up levelling but you still had to do it.

The other thing to note is that they have said previously that the ability to create max level toons won't happen.... Well I could almost guarantee that in the next year you will see "buy a level 80" on blizzard store.

Its still not a max toon though, You still have to go 80-85 which is pain stakingly long. Even if they do let you buy a max toon, the game is coming to the end of its shelf life so let people enjoy it before its gone.
