Yeah, that has probably been one of my only concerns with ArchAge so far. The fact that nothing has really felt like it has any purpose. (the other concern is bland art direction, the game and environments are beautiful but it feels random, particularly the architecture)
That's with most Asian games tbh, same with Tera (was in Korean tho), Aion, Lineage etc. Didn't make me feel connected.
Yea, Aion lore was really nice apart from the lore behind why you couldn't fly in certain areas. I thought it was a bit dull and obviously an afterthought to step people saying "hey, why can't I fly here, QQ".
Didn't they use the "there isn't enough aether to power your wings because the abyss is sucking it all in" as for the reason why you couldn't fly everywhere?
Pretty much yeah, sucked. Although it was fun terrain climbing and gliding to Zapiel (and watching half the raid fail)
lmao, the first time I went to Zaphiel with a group, we didnt know about the rain trick so we were using a sorc to get there. He didnt know exactly what he was doing and it took us a while and a few deaths
Yea I know the lore and the reason, I just thought that particular part of it was weak. Sent from my HTC Desire using Forum Runner
Well, kinda same reason of why they removed levitation from TES games, skipping content and avoiding hard encounters is never welcomed by the designers. Understandable.
Plus levitate in Morrowind looked utterly lame, sometimes I was debating wether to use it or not because it felt so lame. Much preferred Acrobatics, who doesn't like jumping! (especially as a werewolf). Unfortunately I think they are removing that too, streamlining games since the year 2000. I thought Aion had very little lore, but the intention of showing different views from Asmo and Elyos side was quite enjoyable. Still they should have integrated it more and connected with it, it had little to no effect on the game's purpose or atmosphere.
