Ok guys, so the Mojangles have "leaked" 1.9 and 1.9 server. Obviously this means we are about a week away from 1.9 release. 1.9 adds a shed load including NPCs to the villages, snow biomes and nicer swamp biomes, 2 new nether mobs, nether structures, mushroom biomes, new grass block, new sounds, snowmen and that's just for starters. Question is, do we ask Adagio to load up the 1.9 server and I'll post a link and instructions to install the pre release, or wait untill it goes live in a week or so. NOW Either way will require a new map to make the most of it, we can overcome loosing everything though, but it will require adagio to MCEDIT the main town from the current map to a new one, which will leave some dodgy terrain issues but nothing which can't be overcome. What does everyone think?
Voted for "Wait for official release then MCEDIT the town". I enjoyed starting again for 1.8 but I really don't know if I have the drive to do it again after just a short time. I am totally open to do whatever everyone else wants to do, but I just think its too soon since the last wipe and restart to do that again.
I agree Just so people know the full extent of the pre-release NPCs have no sounds and have no use nether has 2 new mobs and "dungeons" There are now nether bricks, nether brick fence, nether brick stairs pigmen now drop rotten flesh and gold nuggets (9 make an ingot) Swamps look much better and have lillie pads Snow biomes are in, and with 2 snow blocks (9 snowballs) and a pumpkin you can make a snowman which aggros everything and dies very fast >.< not found any mushroom biomes but that doesn't mean they aren't there. ATM I don't think it's worth an upgrade. my2p
Yea only votes in the poll that have had people post in here saying "I voted for xxx" will be considered. There are only 14 or so of us whitelisted so if those 14 can post what they voted for it would help make a decision due to the troll voting.
Don't see any point in updating considering what's being added right now, would be sad losing the stuff that's been done so far. So I voted for wait + mcedit.
I say wait and MCEDIT after the official release, if anyone wants to play with 1.9 hey can in SP for the time being
voted for official 1.9 release and MCEDIT, be a shame to give up what we worked for. Then again, if we cant get everything 1.9 offers into our existing world via upgrading then I'd say we have to start over.
Well, I've been watching some videos lately and looking at all the new stuff and upgrades to Biomes, Nether etc. I don't think it's possible to get all of it into our map via editing. I'd say we have to start from scratch with 1.9 to get all the new features going.
i havent done much on this server, but even if i had i quite like starting from scratch.. there is something about all the shitty 1st night houses i have built that has a special charm to it =)
We've done some looking into releasing the 1.9 prerelease server onto live, however it's not possible with our provider. We will have to stay with 1.8.1 untill 1.9 releases fully. SO what a few of us came up with on TS the other night was that as our server seems to have 2 sorts of mentalities when it comes to the builds #1 is those of us who like themed builds eg. a medievil style castle town with only wood and cobble buildings (no bricks) #2 is those who like to build parking lots and dirt towers.... Now I don't like to keep suggesting people tear down stuff because it ruins the aesthetics for thos of us who like themes SO on 1.9 we are suggesting we start a new world and MCEDIT the basic town we have built (the inn, farm, blacksmith, library, adagios house, acinas tower, omnis house, the town storage and the walls) and plonk it on the spawn of the 1.9 world. THEN around that town will be a free for all build what you like from what you mine/gather in the centre of the town or on the outskirts we will have the nether portal. We will then have some scouts walk off to find some nice build areas, eg a snow biome, a desert biome, a swamp biome, a plains biome and a forest biome (And if lucky a mushroom biome) Taking down the coodinates we can easily build some portals in the nether which bring you out in these zones. THESE WILL BE THEMED! for example: the desert could be a wild west theme, the snow biome could be a winter wonderland, the forest could be tree houses. HOWEVER in these zones we would like people to try and keep to the theme on the whole. So no glass towers in the forest or sprites of batman in the western. This is still purely an idea but it would allow people to build themed stuff and still allow others to build whatever they imagine in the spawn zone.
1.9 pre-release part 2 is scheduled for today, but I dunno if it has been released yet or if it is on target to be released or if they will just skip it. Anyways.... do we know when the official 1.9 is set to release ? I am very interested as I have a lot of ideas for stuff I want to build on the server, but I am waiting till after 1.9 is released now.
1.9 p2 went live about 2 hours ago. I don't know how well you follow notch and jeb but features include: Enderpearls can be thrown which teleports you to where it lands, taking a bit of fall dmg. Items can be repaired. Feed wheat to animals to make them breed Hold wheat to make passive animals follow you Endermen teleport out of water, to avoid arrows and just more often Hardcore mode - world gets deleted if you die (ssp only obviously) New drops including spider eyes. 3 glass in a v makes 3 bottles (used in future for potions) Fences attach to other blocks Pumpkins give seeds to grow more (still can't be eaten etc) Blaze rods can be used as fuel Oh and items can be repaired!
@adagio - Lets hope they nick Buildcraft and Industrialcraft. They are both now 1.8.1 compatible btw, SSP and SMP. Tempted to install them and go for an adventure on SSP.
Notch has always been quite open about incorporating ideas from the community. I like it that way as it shows he's making a game for the community to enjoy instead of just his own idea of what we are supposed to enjoy. Id love some of the industrial and better than wolves stuff to come later on down the line though.
