Very cool, shame about the title though..
This would be amazing on an Oculus Rift
yeah, I'm hoping it's just a working title. ( otherwise I might just have to make a Downfall Parody about it )
Well the thing looks nice; if it has dogfight gameplay at least remotely as good as the Freespace series had then it'd be interesting.
(I gotta agree the title is really awful)
Looks really good. Wonder how well they will do vs Star Citizen!
it's supposedly launch a year or so before SC, so plenty of time to play both
Well SC is Dec2014 with the way funding is going (For Alpha). Will be nice to play it before, so many nice games coming out!
Guessing neither of you played the old elite games?
Nope, just saying I did try a bunch of space sims but none managed to get close to how good the dogfighting was in Freespace.
And about the name..it's not necessarily the 'Elite' part, but really..Dangerous?!
The dangerous part is a throw back to the old games rating system, harmless > mostly harmless > average > above average > competent > dangerous > deadly > elite
TBH Elite influenced pretty much every space combat sim including freespace no doubt
I played Elite obsessively on my BBC Micro and Acorn Electron....
Cassette loader and 5 1/4 inch floppy disks ftw!
...and then Frontier: Elite II on the Amiga
I still think the name Elite: Dangerous is bad... even though Danger is my middle name :raises eyebrow:
Ye elite on the bbc for me than frontier on the ST
lol I loved Elite, Spectrum 48k for me then.. hmm I bet that jpeg is more that 48k lol
Elite was a hugely influential game, serving as a model for more recent games such as Space Rogue, Eve Online, Freelancer, Jumpgate, Infinity: The Quest for Earth, Wing Commander: Privateer, Pardus, the Escape Velocity series and the X series of space trading games.
oh and it may have been old but hey like their keycoder? Stopping piracy since 1984
Note the space ship from 30 years ago
TIL KC is old.
