Mojang has just recruited 4 members of Bukkit to ensure that Minecraft has the best modding experience it can provide, and the guys behind the well know Bukkit mod are definately the people for the job.
So it's been a monumental few days for the guys and girls at ArenaNet and NCsoft, on Wednesday evening at 6pm GMT the flood gates opened and the much anticipated great Guild Wars 2 beta signup marathon began.
In just 48 short hours the gates were supposed to close (6pm GMT today), at which point the above image was tweeted out, they had reached a whopping 990,152 sign ups. SWTOR as a comparison managed to bag 1.5 million sign ups in the first 2 months they were open.
It must have been agony for the hardworking folks that had been hyping up the beta sign ups for the whole of those 48 hours, to be so close to 1 Million that they could touch it! As you may or may not know, Mojang have been releasing "snapshots" of the version 1.2 they are working on, and Multiplay have recently announced they are supporting snapshots on their servers.
With the announcement of this next big patch, the BOON Control Minecraft server will be coming back online for the next few months. We will be starting up with a brand new map so that we have the new biome types (don't worry, the old map is saved for later as there was a large build on it). Access will be, as always, limited to existing members of the BOON Control guild/community via a whitelist system. Sorry to anyone who wishes to join the server, but due to the popularity of random griefing in Minecraft, we keep our server limited to guild members or long time community members.
